Accessibility statement

Last updated 22 October 2026

We want everyone who runs a business to be able to use TaxUnderstood, including people who use a screen reader, keyboard, voice control, magnification or a translated version of the site.

1. What we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on the website at taxunderstood.co.uk. You should be able to:

2. How accessible the site is

We think the site is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA while we finish testing. On 22 October 2026 we ran automated checks (axe-core, WCAG 2.2 AA rules) on the home page, tools, grants library, news, account, forum, calendar and legal pages, and fixed what they found: low colour contrast on some labels and counts, a language button whose spoken name didn't match its visible text, and a link that was too small to tap easily.

Automated checks find only part of the problems. A full manual test with a keyboard and screen readers is planned, and we'll update this page with the results.

3. Things we know could be better

4. The phone app

Our iPhone and Android app supports the phone's text size settings, VoiceOver and TalkBack. If anything in the app doesn't work for you, please tell us.

If you can't use part of TaxUnderstood, or you need information in a different format, email hello@taxunderstood.co.uk. Tell us the page and what went wrong. We'll reply within 5 working days.
